Accessibility

Our garden map highlights which paths are suitable for mobility scooters, and which areas may be less accessible. We’re also very happy to talk this through with you on arrival and help plan the best route for your visit.

Thanks to Gift Aid donations, we are able to continue maintaining and improving our pathways wherever possible. At the same time, we are committed to preserving the natural woodland character of the garden, ensuring it remains a beautiful and authentic landscape for everyone to enjoy.

Please be aware that not all areas of Fairhaven Garden are wheelchair-friendly, particularly in wet weather, as some paths may become muddy, soft, or uneven. Accessibility can vary depending on the type of wheelchair and the person assisting. Visitors and carers use the paths at their own risk. We strongly recommend that carers assess the paths beforehand to determine which areas are safe and manageable prior to making any booking.

The Main Path, King Oak Path, and Beech Walk are in good condition and lead to the boats, though they retain a natural woodland feel and have uneven surfaces, which visitors should bear in mind. The garden pathways are generally easy to walk, with plenty of benches throughout where you can sit and enjoy the views.

Thanks to Gift Aid donations, we have added a boardwalk to our second bridge path, ensuring year-round access. Our next project is to complete upgrades to the Kingfisher Path and continue improving surfaces on the main garden routes.

Mobility Scooters

The hire fee is £7.50, which helps cover maintenance, servicing and when funds allow, the purchase of new scooters.

Scooters are in high demand during the main season, so we recommend booking in advance.
